I am so excited that you’re here!

I suspect you’re a little unconventional? A little wild perhaps? Maybe even a smidge off-kilter? Good! Me Too!

That is why I am so happy you’ve made it to our little corner of this world. I’ve created everything you see around you as an expression of my wild heart and unbridled soul. I’ve never really “fit in” and always seemed to travel the less worn paths of life.

In early September of 2018 I had the most incredible – life-altering – dream. (if you don’t know what I’m talking about… Click Here, it’s okay, do it now, I’ll wait ) Ever since then, I’ve been keeping snakes.

The collection started with River, The Snake our first Ball Python (a male FireFly produced by Sun Devil Reptiles). Since then our Ball Python collection has grown! We’ve also added a breeding group of Brazilian Rainbow Boas and a Boa (B.c. imperator). And of course I’m not immune to the “Pringles Problem” of owning snakes, I have plans to add more animals to our “pet” collection… as well as, additional morphs to our breeding groups.

I sincerely hope you’re a fan of Jurrasic Park and caught the movie quote reference!

If you also identify on the feminine end of the gender spectrum, and you keep and/or breed snakes… you may have noticed that this space is dominated by the male types. One of my goals is to use this space to help bring attention to the feminine aspect of the hobby. One of my inspirations and idols is Colette Sutherland – a.k.a. The Snake Keeper. She was rocking this hobby over 20 years ago and is a force to be reckoned with. Just as Colette, and these wonderful scaled souls, have done for me – I hope to inspire you to scale barriers, shed your doubts, and clutch your dreams!

A Bunch of Stuff You Probably Don’t Know About Danee…

What's my favorite animal?

Although snakes are up there on my list, and my dogs are an easy guess… I am actually OBSESSED with OTTERS!!! Seriously… they are stinking cute – plus their playful and attentive – yet totally badass warrior – energy is something I aspire to model in my life. Want to make my day? Tag me in or send me a picture of an otter.

What is my Life Philosophy?

“You are enough, and you can do better.”

That says it all. I believe everybody is beautifully flawed in a very human way and that it’s these imperfections that make us so wonderfully unique. Also, no matter how much of “the work” you have done, there are ways we can improve ourselves. There’s always something we can work on to get in better alignment with our highest self. That journey, however, MUST be met with loving compassion – for others, and most importantly, for ourselves.

What is my greatest irrational fear?

I am illogically terrified of bridges… well not so much the bridge itself, more so falling off the bridge and drowning. *Shivers*

(Through my spiritual practice, I think I figured out why… curious? You’ll just have to ask me to tell you the story!)

What are some of my personal flaws?

1 – When I get excited I talk too fast and start either skipping words altogether or mashing them together

2 – I cannot spell… thank goodness for autocorrect and spell check!

3 – I have a really hard time looking at someone in the eyes and thinking at the same time… I will listen intently, then have to look away to process and figure out what I want to stay

4 – When I’m deep in thought or have a lot of stuff on my mind I’ll just stop talking mid…

What is my favorite Ball Python morph?

Okay, so you can probably guess this if you know anything about my collection… Desert Ghost all the way! One of my goals is to have DG in all of my breeding animals. I truly feel this gene is advantageous for both breeders (value retention of a recessive morph) AND for keepers (keep your new Ball Python look longer!). It’s really a win-win for everyone involved.

What morph do I want to work with that I don't have - yet?

TSK Axanthic!!! First, I’m a total fan-girl of Colette, so … duh. Second, if you are not familiar, check out JD Constriction… absolutely bonkers! DG Axanthic XYZ?!?! YES PLEASE!!! ALL OF THEM!!!

What is my favorite part of this hobby?

I am a pretty even mix of logical-academic-nerdy and wild-child-creative-spirit. This means that I have a way of bringing order to chaos and logic to creativity, without stifling the wild and creative energy of the project at hand. So, give me the chance to play with the logic puzzle that is genetics where I also get to produce stunning living art… I am 1000% on board.

Southern Ave. Suite #713 Tempe, AZ 85282… Write up a note old school and have it take to flight via pigeon! I don’t care how you get it to me… I’m just excited you asked!

What's with Our Divine Adventure, LLC?

Our Divine Adventure, LLC is the holding company for ThirteenthFeather.com, SacredScales.com, and DaneeKay.com. I get it. You’re not likely interested in ALL of the paths I wander during my journey, so I made the decision to create separate containers for each of my passions. This way, you can pick and choose to follow along with me in the space(s) that are most in alignment with your own personal journey.

Meet River, The Snake… also affectionately referred to as Snake. This is the OG, the snake that started it all! River is a male, FireFly (Pastel Fire) who I picked up from Sun Devil Reptiles at a Reptile Show in Phoenix. He is kept in a bioactive enclosure – which has been totally rewarding … and a bit frustrating. Want to know more about our husbandry and how we keep our animals? Head on over to The Facility to check it out.
